Sub Con Warrior 2.0
Following the sell-out In The Raw Studio Season in 2006, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, with the support of the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, returns with SUB-CON WARRIOR 2.0, the latest instalment in the interactive SUB-CON series. Combining computer game concepts with promenade theatre, this new work smashes theatrical conventions and explores the impact of virtual reality on human consciousness.
Using Zen Zen Zo’s hallmark physical and visceral style, the performance invites the audience into a virtual world where an unknown entity known as the "Game Engine" provides entertainment and challenges to overcome. Guided by the Warriors: Lieutenant A. Hunter (Heavy Weapons/Tactics) and Mantra (Zen Philosophy/Wicked Kung Fu) the audience must explore a maze of game environments and corporate intrigue.
Directed by Zen Zen Zo Artistic Director Simon Woods (Macbeth: As Told by the Weird Sisters, The Odyssey) with Lighting by David Walters and a stunning new script from Canadian playwright Stephen Atkins (Dracula), SUB-CON WARRIOR 2.0 will push audience and actors to the limit.

"A dance between celebrating and critiquing computer game culture. The challenge of representing computer games in the 'real' world has been met with a production that takes the concept of immersion literally. Zen Zen Zo has created a show oozing with enthusiasm and excitement, and created much anticipation for the restaging" Danni Zuvela (Real Time).
"With immense energy and conviction, Zen Zen Zo build this sort of hyper-reality, seducing the audience into surrendering to it. And we did... A multi-site specific work where boredom is not an option." Rebecca Meston (Scene)
"Sexy, scary, daring, fun and edgy and uses space in highly innovative and stimulating ways." Morgan Maguire (Rave Magazine)
